Our history

Drammen Antikvariat was established in 1992 by Randi Helgerud and Jens K. Haugfos, hence we celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2017. We started up in an old house in the fringes of the city, but moved to the present address in 2007.

From the very beginning our humanist background made it natural to concentrate mainly on fiction and cultural history. The store has generally had almost 12000 books from 5 centuries in stock, catalogued digital from day one. Up to 6 catalogs were issued per year in the beginning, but the last say 15 years, our main sales channels has been our website and not the least the organized antiquarian bookstores’ own website in Scandinavia; www.antikvariat.net. We also have had old maps and prints from many centuries and places. From 2016 to 2018 Jens was the chairman in Norsk Antikvarbokhandlerforening (NABF) / The Norwegian Association of Antiquarian Booksellers. At present (April 2018) the store has closed down for various reasons, but will hopefully sell books and prints again on the net from autumn 2018
